Vance declares progress in Burgenstock Iran talks, Washington wants to turn over a new leaf

USA and Iran have already made progress in the first several hours of peace talks in Switzerland, declared JD Vance, leading the American side on the first day of negotiations taking place under difficult circumstances, as the Israel-Hezbollah conflict continues in Lebanon.

‘I expect we will make additional progress in the hours to come, the US Vice President said during a brief press conference alongside the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Qatar who are mediating the talks, heading out a team of advisors.

According to the Times of Israel, while Vance’s counterpart in the peace deliberations, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, was not standing alongside the three men, several Iranian officials were present.

Vance described today’s meeting as ‘historic’ due to the high level of face to face engagement between US and Iranian leaders at the Swiss resort.

He further said that President Trump had asked to turn over a new leaf with Iran, aimed at transforming their bilateral relationship, adding that the technical talks will allow for both sides to sit together and work to resolve issues.
