Silence is complicity, says Palestinian Embassy in Cyprus

The Palestinian Embassy in Cyprus condemned what it perceives as inaction by the international community against the “genocide” of its people by Israel.

In an announcement on Friday, following an attack in Northern Gaza where over 100 individuals were killed while seeking aid, the embassy noted the precarious state of affairs in Palestine.

It described the dire situation in Gaza, where residents, after enduring five months of famine, were targeted during what was meant to be a moment of relief. “The first humanitarian aid, that reached the Palestinians who have been feeding their children with animal food, was simply an opportunity for mass murders by the immoral army of Israel!” the statement read.

The embassy’s message also highlighted the contrast between the daily lives of people around the world and the reality in Gaza, stating, “You see horrific images as you scroll through social media platforms and yet you choose to use them to post about your weekend getaways and brunches overlooking the sea.”

Expressing profound dismay and outrage, the statement continued, “We are disgusted by the cowardice of the occupying state of Israel! We are angered by the silence of the International Community!”

In a plea for action, the embassy said, “We DEMAND that all countries and governments of the world, and all political parties take a clear stand against the killings of the Apartheid state of Israel to stop this ongoing genocide against our people.”

The statement concluded: “Silence is complicity.”
