Police arrested just four people for various offences, including theft, burglary, and assaulting a police officer, during a massive countrywide operation.
Police maintained a heavy presence across Cyprus overnight, carrying out organised patrols at key locations in urban areas. The operation aimed to prevent serious crime, maintain public order, and boost the public’s sense of security.
The preventative operations led to the arrest of four individuals for offences including building burglary and theft, illegal presence in the Republic of Cyprus, outstanding fine warrants, and assaulting a police officer.
During the overnight sweeps, officers pulled over and checked 662 drivers and 208 passengers. Police also inspected 64 premises to tackle delinquency, resulting in 11 violations being reported.
Traffic checks conducted during the operations led to 212 reports for various traffic violations, while five additional traffic offences are currently under investigation.
Among the traffic violations, 92 drivers were booked for speeding, and officers impounded seven vehicles as part of their investigations. Police also carried out 353 breathalyser tests, resulting in 22 reports, while one driver tested positive during a preliminary drug test.
