Man held after group attack in Famagusta leaves two injured

Police arrested a 34-year-old resident of the Famagusta district yesterday in connection with a group attack that left two men injured.

The man faces charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, causing grievous bodily harm, and causing actual bodily harm.

The victims, aged 18 and 30, reported to police that they were attacked by a group of individuals while standing outside their home in the Famagusta district at around 8:40 pm yesterday. Police officers arrived at the scene to find the two complainants and began an investigation.

Both victims were taken to Famagusta General Hospital. The 18-year-old received first aid and was discharged, but the 30-year-old was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment. His condition is described as serious but stable. He is suffering from a subdural haematoma and a midline shift in the brain.

During the investigation, evidence emerged against the 34-year-old, who was arrested at approximately 9:00 pm last night and taken into custody.

The suspect appeared before the Famagusta District Court today, which issued an eight-day remand order. Famagusta CID is continuing the investigation.
