A fire broke out on Friday afternoon in an abandoned ground-floor premises in Larnaca, prompting a Fire Service response.
Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis said in a post on X that crews responded at 5.04 pm to extinguish the fire.
The fire started from discarded materials and damaged the premises’ false ceiling, he said. Heat and smoke affected the entire property.
Kettis said the heat also affected the roof of an adjoining house, including wooden beams and roof tiles.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and water hoses to extinguish the blaze. They also dismantled part of the internal false ceiling and put out the burning wooden beams.
A search was carried out inside the premises following information that a person may have been inside, but no one was found. Kettis said foreign nationals had been living in the property.
Two fire engines responded to the incident, while the cause of the fire is under investigation.
