The inflation accompanying recreational activities has been intensifying every year due to consecutive increases in 2023, 2022, and 2021.
Data published by the Statistical Service last week reveals how prices have soared for those who wish to venture outside their homes.
Prices for fast food and takeaway services rose by 5.7% in January on an annual basis compared to an increase of 11.5% in 2023 and 5.4% in 2022.
Prices at canteens increased by 4% in January from 7.9% in 2023 compared to 2022.
Price increases in restaurants, cafes, and taverns were 5.6% in January on an annual basis, while in January 2023, the increase was 8.6%.
Prices for entertainment and sports services increased by 3.2% in January on an annual basis compared to an increase of 9.6% in January 2023.
However, there are not only increases but also decreases in prices, such as in cinemas, theaters, and concerts, with a marginal decline of 0.1% in January compared to an increase of 2.5% in January 2023.

Apart from the data from the Statistical Service, there are also comparisons with other countries based on the international platform Numbeo regarding the cost of dining out.
The numbers show that if a family of four decides to dine out, with a medium income, they should calculate their expenses carefully.
