Pieces of plaster and cement fell from an apartment block on Makarios Avenue in Limassol on Sunday afternoon, causing concern around a building already declared dangerous by the competent authorities.
The incident happened at around 2 pm. Officials from the Limassol District Local Government Organisation went to the scene and fenced off the area to protect pedestrians and passers-by.
According to information, the property owners had previously received instructions and a letter from the DLGO (District Local Government Organisation) to take measures and remove the danger posed by the building.
Although the apartment tenants have left the building, a shop continues to operate on the ground floor, with the tenant remaining on the premises.
The case is already before the courts as part of a dispute between the property owners and the shop tenant.
Following the latest incident, information suggests the DLGO is considering further legal action, including an application for a court order to evacuate the building.
The building was constructed in 1956, has two floors and, according to information, belongs to a well-known Limassol family.
