Venezuela Twin Earthquakes Death Toll Rises Over 2600

The death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela last week has now risen to at least 2,645, according to the latest announcement by authorities.

The country’s Ministry of Information also reports 12,666 injured and approximately 15,000 homeless. Yesterday, provisional President Delcy Rodríguez had put the number of fatalities at 2,595.

While official authorities avoid speaking about missing persons, the United Nations estimates that the number could be as high as 50,000.
