Voters, particularly the elderly, have expressed complaints at two polling stations in the Drosia area of Larnaca today as many struggle to locate their designated voting rooms.
The confusion stems from a recent decision to separate displaced voters (refugees) from local Larnaca residents. Consequently, voting is now taking place across two different primary schools situated directly opposite one another.
Many individuals have arrived to cast their ballots at the school where they traditionally exercised their electoral right, only to be informed of the structural changes upon arrival. In one notable case broadcast by state television, an elderly couple stated that they would refuse to vote at all as a direct result of the disruption caused by the change.
Voters also voiced their frustrations directly to Philenews reporters on the scene. Despite the friction, polling station staff are making significant efforts to assist and direct those who are unaware of where they are supposed to cast their ballots.
