A minor who was abducted from Limassol last week by his Turkish-origin father has been placed under the protection of the Turkish Cypriot “state”, according to “labour and social security minister” Oguzhan Hasipoglu.
In a written statement, Hasipoglu said his “ministry” was closely and responsibly monitoring the process concerning the child.
He said the necessary steps were taken immediately after assessments by specialists from the social services “department”, with the child’s best interests as the guiding principle.
The minor was then placed under protection on the basis of a “court order”, Hasipoglu said.
He added that the child is now under “state” protection, that medical checks have been completed, and that specialist teams are carefully handling the process to safeguard his physical and psychological well-being.
Hasipoglu said the safety and future of children is a major responsibility and that the “ministry” would continue its efforts so that every child can live in a safe environment.
