Israel arrests activists after blocking Gaza flotilla

After blocking another flotilla set for the coast of Gaza and releasing 175 activists in international waters off the coast of Crete, Israel’s foreign ministry said it had taken two of them back to the country for questioning, one of them for terror ties.

According to the Times of Israel, Saif Abu Keshek is suspected of affiliation to a terrorist organisation and Thiago Avila of illegal activity, with a statement by the ministry once again referring to the flotilla as ‘Hamas-led’ and yet another provocation designed to divert attention from the organisation’s refusal to disarm.

‘It is serving the PR interests of professionals provocateurs’, Israel stated.

The flotilla organisers called for pressure on Israel to release the two remaining detainees.

We demand all governments to do all they can to help secure the release all illegal abductees’, the activists said.

Those released departed for their countries through the Greek island.
