Police will close part of Griva Digeni avenue in Engomi tonight as investigators reconstruct the fatal crash that killed 28-year-old Andreas Antoniou on March 27.
The section running from central Nicosia towards Engomi will be closed from 8 pm to 10 pm, from the junction with Agiou Prokopiou street (Kykkos lights) to the signalised intersection with 25th Martiou street.
Traffic will be diverted along Agiou Prokopiou street towards the Kolokasidis roundabout via Agiou Prokopiou, Delfon, Achaion and Kyriakou Matsi streets.
Police asked for public understanding for any inconvenience and urged drivers to follow officers’ directions.
The reconstruction will be carried out by the Traffic Headquarters Accident Examination and Reconstruction Branch in cooperation with the Nicosia Traffic investigative team.
The March 27 crash occurred when a car driven by a 23-year-old woman struck the motorcycle ridden by Antoniou on Griva Digeni avenue in Engomi.
The circumstances remain under investigation. Antoniou, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where a duty doctor pronounced him dead.
