A physical altercation broke out between a priest and the former Bishop of Paphos, Tychikos, during a Divine Liturgy at a central Paphos church.
Information obtained by Phileleftheros indicates that the former Bishop entered the church and moved toward the sanctuary with the intention of participating in the service. The officiating priest approached Tychikos and informed him that he was barred from taking part, as he remains under suspension by decision of the Holy Synod.
Tychikos reportedly reacted to the instruction, leading to a heated argument and a physical scuffle between the two men.
The priest, who recently underwent neck surgery, reported feeling pain in the area following the incident and was transported to Paphos Hospital for first aid. Sources said the priest intends to file a formal police complaint against the former Bishop once he is discharged from hospital.
