Police are at an advanced stage in the Sandy case investigation, but there is still some way to go before the probe is completed, police spokesman Vyron Vyronos said on Saturday.
Vyronos said investigators were still taking a large number of statements, while checks were continuing on all levels, including procedures to secure court orders.
The results of Europol’s examination of evidence in the case are seen as crucial for the next developments, although police have no clear timeframe for when they will be received.
“So far, there is no indication as to when there will be a response,” Vyronos said.
Police are also waiting for FBI specialists to arrive in Cyprus. They are expected to play a supporting role, mainly assisting with the analysis of statements and witness material.
Speaking to CNA, Vyronos said that, despite the progress made, police still could not say when the investigation would be completed.
He said the investigation was continuing at an intensive pace, with the next developments expected to depend largely on scientific findings and international cooperation.
