A bus driver is in hospital with serious injuries after he was attacked by a passenger while operating a route in Aglantzia on Sunday night, authorities told philenews.
According to the authorities, the driver was assaulted inside the bus for reasons that remain unclear, suffering injuries to his head and knee.
The alleged attacker has been identified, while police are awaiting medical examinations to clarify the driver’s condition and determine the charges before taking further action.
The assault has triggered a response from trade unions, with SEK calling for measures and warning over the safety of both drivers and passengers.
The incident was the 10th serious attack on professional bus drivers in the past two years, according to the same information.
