Wizz Air will launch a new direct route from Larnaca to Madrid and resume flights to Athens from September 2026, the airline announced on April 23, alongside planned frequency increases on existing routes to Barcelona, Thessaloniki and Yerevan.
The Athens service will operate 11 times per week from September 23, increasing to 14 weekly flights — double daily — from October. Fares start from €29.99 one-way. The Madrid route launches on September 24, operating three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with fares from €55.99 one-way.
András Szabó, Network Officer at Wizz Air, said the Athens resumption responded to strong and consistent passenger demand, while the Madrid launch would open new opportunities for connectivity between Cyprus and the Spanish market.
Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications at Larnaca airport, welcomed the expansion, saying it brought more choice and affordable travel options at a time when positive developments for the aviation and tourism sectors were particularly important.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis said the new routes were a vote of confidence in Cyprus as a destination, adding that improved connectivity opened new corridors of tourism, trade and cultural exchange.
Tickets are available at wizzair.com and on the Wizz Air mobile app.
