Trump urges Israel and Hezbollah to halt attacks

US President Donald Trump called on Israel and Hezbollah to stop attacking each other after an Israeli strike in Beirut, which he said should not have happened.

“Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it responded to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt or killed, and should not disrupt this important process,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

He also said a deal with Iran was close and would “bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon”.

“There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. Let’s not blow it!”
