Cyprus is set for a sizzling weekend with temperatures hitting 39C inland on Saturday and remaining higher than the average until at least Tuesday, the met office said.
Temperature will rise to 39C inland, around 34C along the south-east and eastern coastline with 32C on the remainder and 28C in the higher mountains.
On Saturday night, they will drop to around 20C inland, 22C on the coast and around 18C in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, the weather will be mostly clear with increased cloud in mountain areas. The forecast for Monday is similar with temperature unlikely to change.
By Tuesday, cloudy weather could give way to rain in the mountains and temperatures will drop slightly islandwide but will still be above the average for the time of year.
