Showers and isolated thunderstorms forecast for inland and mountains

Low cloud and patchy mist or fog will clear on Tuesday, leaving mainly fine weather with occasional increased low cloud.

Clouds developing from around midday are expected to bring local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in inland and mountainous areas.

Winds will be mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, becoming strong at times along the coast at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will initially be smooth to slight, becoming generally slight to moderate, later.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 37C inland, 32C on the coast and 26C in the higher mountains.

On Tuesday night, periods of increased low cloud are expected, with patchy mist or fog forming in some areas, particularly in the east and inland.

Winds will be mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, while south-easterly winds are expected along the northern coast. They will be light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to smooth to slight.

On Wednesday and Thursday, periods of increased cloud are expected, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms developing from around midday, mainly inland and in the mountains.

On Friday, periods of increased cloud are forecast, with isolated showers expected after midday, mainly in the mountains.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Friday and will remain close to seasonal averages.
