The identity of the second victim of the double tragedy in Germasogeia, Limassol, remains unknown, with authorities relying on DNA and fingerprint analysis to establish who the person was. Samples have been taken from the body for scientific examination, but no official confirmation of identity has been issued.
According to philenews sources, evidence gathered by investigators suggests the second victim had booked the apartment through the Booking.com platform a few days before the tragedy, which occurred on Holy Saturday.
The CID Limassol is continuing its investigation. According to the latest information available to philenews, the apartment belongs to a specific owner but is managed by a company that rents it out to third parties.
The head of that company has not yet given a statement to investigators, with that interview expected to take place in the coming days.
The second victim is believed to be from an Eastern European country, according to sources.
A post-mortem examination carried out by forensic pathologist Nikolas Charalambous established that both victims died from crush syndrome.
Next Saturday — exactly one week after the tragedy — friends and compatriots of the 27-year-old Nigerian victim will gather outside the apartment block at 7 pm to pay their respects, leaving candles and flowers in memory of the two victims.
