Reduced tourist arrivals in 2024

Tourist arrivals in January 2024 amounted to 87,961 compared to 90,549 in January 2023, marking a decrease of 2.9%.

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for January 2024, accounting for 18.6% (16,321) of total arrivals, arrivals from Poland 18.2% (15,978), and arrivals from Greece 11.8% (10,384).

The purpose of travel in January 2024 was vacations for 60.8% of tourists, visiting friends or relatives for 21.2%, and business purposes for 17.2%. In comparison, for January 2023, 64.8% visited Cyprus for vacations, 21.4% for visiting friends or relatives, and 13.4% for business reasons.

Trips of Cyprus residents abroad in January 2024 amounted to 153,499 compared to 136,717 in January 2023, marking an increase of 12.3%.

The main countries from which Cyprus residents returned in January 2024 were Greece with 30.5% (46,837), the United Kingdom with 11.9% (18,334), Poland with 4.3% (6,525), and Russia with 4.1% (6,241).

The purpose of travel for Cyprus residents in January 2024 was mainly vacations with a percentage of 85.7%, while business purposes accounted for 11.7%, studies for 1.6%, and other reasons for 1.0%.
