Larnaca police were placed on high alert shortly after 14:00 on Friday after two masked individuals were seen outside a bank in Kiti behaving suspiciously.
According to police information, bank employees observed two masked individuals getting out of a saloon car carrying sports-type bags. The pair approached the bank entrance, which did not open due to the controlled access system. After a few seconds they got back into the vehicle and left.
Officers from Kiti station, CID Larnaca and patrol cars rushed to the scene. The area has been cordoned off and investigations are under way to locate the suspects.
Police sources told philenews it has not yet been established whether the individuals attempted to enter the bank, and this remains under investigation.
