President Nikos Christodoulides and the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohamed al-Sudani, discussed the further development and expansion of bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Iraq on Thursday in a meeting held in New York.
As announced by the presidency, during the meeting, the president said that Cyprus has always maintained friendly relations with Iraq, and that there are many opportunities for cooperation, which in his previous position has foreign minister he had discussed with his Iraqi counterpart in various meetings.
For his part, the prime minister of Iraq said that there are many areas in which bilateral cooperation between the countries can be developed and extended an open invitation to the president for a visit.
Accepting the invitation, Christodoulides said that Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos will go to Iraq next November to prepare for an upcoming visit of the president to Baghdad.
