Paphos CID intensifies investigation into butcher shop bombing

Paphos CID has cordoned off the scene of an early-morning explosion outside a butcher’s shop and begun taking statements from multiple people as investigators work to identify those responsible and establish a motive.

The blast, which rocked a large part of the area around the Panayia Pantanassa church at 3:30am, was caused by an explosive device placed near the facade of a butcher’s shop on the main road in front of the church and TEPAK Paphos, police said.

At first light, officers began intensive evidence collection at the scene. The Paphos CID is taking statements from a number of individuals as part of efforts to identify the perpetrators and determine what drove them to carry out the attack.
