Meloni postpones Cyprus visit after Modena incident

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has postponed her planned visit to Cyprus today after a serious incident in Modena left civilians injured.

Meloni will return urgently to Italy and travel to Modena with the President of the Italian Republic to be close to the injured, their families and the local community.

Her visit to Cyprus will be rescheduled for a date to be agreed.

The Republic of Cyprus said it attaches particular importance to further strengthening relations between Cyprus and Italy, as well as to their common European and regional coordination.

Cyprus also expressed solidarity with the Italian government, the people of Italy and all those affected by the incident.
