Limassol high-rise tragedy caught on camera as cleaner falls to her death from outer ledge

Investigators have obtained CCTV footage capturing the final moments of a 61-year-old woman who fell to her death from the fourth floor of a commercial building on Friday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Diana Tsilidou from Georgia, died from injuries sustained after plunging approximately 15 metres into the underground car park of a newly constructed office building in the Agios Ioannis area of Limassol.

The video evidence shows Tsilidou, who was employed by an external cleaning agency, stepping onto an external window ledge to clean the glass panes. According to police sources, she had bypassed a 60-centimetre glass safety barrier in front of the sliding windows to access the outer ledge.

The footage captures her holding the aluminum window frame with one hand while cleaning with the other, shortly before losing her balance and falling.

The incident has triggered a joint investigation by the police and the Limassol District Department of Labour Inspection to determine whether mandatory workplace health and safety protocols were observed.

Investigators have established that the offices on the fourth floor had not yet commenced operations.

The company due to occupy the space had sub-contracted its cleaning requirements to the external firm that deployed Tsilidou to the site.

Detectives are continuing to take statements from eyewitnesses and local residents, several of whom reported seeing the woman working on the external ledge prior to the accident.

Labor inspectors are focusing their inquiries on whether the cleaning agency or the property management provided adequate safety equipment or training for working at heights.
