Nicosia Municipality has launched roadworks on Kritis Street and Filippiados Street, causing significant traffic disruption and parking difficulties for drivers, residents, and businesses in the area.
The works, which are expected to last two months, form part of a contract titled “Appropriate construction of various roads in Nicosia — Contract 23 City Centre.” They cover Kritis Street from its junction with Digeni Akrita Avenue to its junction with Stasandrou Street.
Drivers are struggling to find parking near medical practices, pharmacies, and businesses on Kritis Street, while others are searching for alternative routes amid congestion.

Residents and business owners on the neighbouring Androklis Street, which is absorbing overflow traffic from the closed roads, are also experiencing disruption, according to those in the area.

Staff from offices and medical practices in the area have been coming out onto the street to help clients find short-term parking spaces.
The works include the construction of a stormwater drainage system, new pavements meeting modern accessibility standards, road resurfacing, revised traffic arrangements and improved road signage, new on-street parking bays, and upgrades to utility infrastructure.

Drivers are advised to take particular care and follow temporary road signs and traffic diversions as indicated. Temporary traffic lights will operate at the junction of Androklis and Stasandrou streets during the works.
The project is being implemented under the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU), according to the Municipality.
