The percentage of job vacancies in Cyprus rose during the third quarter of 2023, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
The data shows an increase of 3,100 positions, or 33.8%, compared to the same period in the previous year.
The total number of job vacancies for the third quarter of 2023 reached 12,274. This stands in contrast to the corresponding quarter in the previous year, which reported 9,174 open positions. However, a slight dip of 753 positions (-5.8%) was noted when compared to the second quarter of 2023.
Analysing the data further, the vacancy rate, representing the percentage of job vacancies relative to the total number of employees, remained at 2.9% for the third quarter of 2023. This is consistent with the rates observed in the previous quarter and the same period in 2022, which were 2.9% and 2.2%, respectively.
By sector
Key sectors contributing to the surge in job opportunities include Administrative and Support Activities (4.5%), Information and Communication (4.0%), and Accommodation and Food Service Activities (3.9%).
