Famagusta police arrest man after training grenade and drugs found in raid

Police arrested a 31-year-old yesterday furthering investigations into the illegal possession of explosives and drugs.

Authorities searched the 31-year old’s home and vehicle yesterday, finding a hand grenade which appeared to be for training purposes, as well as electronic devices, a number of power tools, and a small amount of cannabis, resulting in his arrest.

The man was consequently issued a search warrant against him, with his arrest allowing police to investigate further.

The 31-year-old is expected to appear today before the Famagusta District Court, to be issued pre-trial detention.

The Criminal Investigation Department (C.I.D.) and the drug squad are expected to continue investigations.
