Firefighters rescued an elderly man after he fell into a dry pit in the Avgorou community settlement in the Famagusta district.
According to the Fire Service spokesman, crews responded to the life rescue incident at 12.26 pm.
The elderly man fell into a dry pit measuring two by one metres and about eight metres deep, after its makeshift cover gave way in the yard of his home.
Firefighters used a rescue tripod to pull the injured man out.
He was conscious and was handed over to ambulance crews to be taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of Famagusta Hospital.
