Driver flees after hitting 25-year-old pedestrian in Limassol

A young pedestrian was injured in Limassol on Saturday night after being struck by a passing vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping.

According to information published by RoadReportCY, the incident occurred at about 8.46 pm on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at the junction of Ayias Fylaxeos Avenue and 1st April Street.

The victim, a man aged under 25, was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by the vehicle and thrown heavily onto the road.

The driver did not stop after the collision and immediately left the area.

One eyewitness said they did not see the exact moment of impact but heard the noise and then saw the pedestrian lying on the road.

Another witness reportedly said the vehicle involved was white and believed the pedestrian may have been struck by its side mirror before falling onto the asphalt.

The RoadReportCY post appealed to anyone who was in the area at about 8.46 pm and may have seen the collision, noticed the vehicle leaving, or has dashcam footage from Ayias Fylaxeos Avenue or 1st April Street to contact police.

People who rushed to help said the injured man remained conscious and was able to communicate with rescuers.

Witnesses also said he appeared to have used his hands to break his fall, possibly avoiding a more serious head injury.

An ambulance arrived at the scene, where paramedics provided first aid before taking him for further medical examinations.

Police said the 25-year-old was discharged after receiving medical treatment.
