Cyprus weather: Light dust possible from Sunday

A weak low-pressure system is affecting the area, with light dust likely to be observed in the atmosphere at intervals from Sunday.

Tonight, increased medium and high cloud will be observed at intervals, possibly bringing some light rain. Winds will blow mainly from the south-west to north-west, light at 3 Beaufort and temporarily on the coasts up to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will generally be slight. Temperatures will fall to around 16 °C inland, around 17 °C on the coasts and around 13 °C in the higher mountains.

On Sunday, the weather will be mostly clear, although temporarily increased medium cloud will be observed mainly at first.

Winds will blow mainly from the south-west to south-east, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, soon becoming moderate at 4 Beaufort and locally strong at 5 Beaufort. Late in the afternoon, they will become south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight. Temperatures will rise to around 32 °C inland, around 29 °C on the northern coast, around 27 °C on the remaining coasts and 22 °C in the higher mountains.

On Sunday night, low clouds will be observed in the west, while local thin fog is expected to form during the early morning hours, mainly in the south.

Winds will blow mainly from the north-west, light at 3 Beaufort and temporarily up to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. Initially, in the south-west, they will blow up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, while in the mountains, they will be strong at 5 Beaufort and temporarily very strong at 6 Beaufort.

The sea will be up to a slight.

Monday will be mostly clear, while temporarily increased cloud will be observed on Tuesday. Isolated rain or a thunderstorm is expected on Wednesday.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly until Tuesday, remaining close to and slightly above seasonal averages, before falling on Wednesday.

At 3 pm today, temperatures and relative humidity were 29C and 20% in Nicosia, 29C and 44% at Larnaca Airport, 26C and 42% in Limassol, 24C and 73% at Paphos Airport, 28C and 38% in Frenaros, 19C and 40% in Prodromos, and 25C and 65% in Polis Chrysochous.
