Cyprus weather isolated showers and storms forecast

Isolated showers and local thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of Cyprus today, carrying the risk of hail, before conditions clear up later tonight.

The weather will start partly cloudy, with scattered showers initially possible over western areas. Conditions will gradually become more unstable, bringing local rain and isolated thunderstorms primarily to the mountains, inland regions, and the southeastern coast. Hail is likely to fall during heavier storms.

Southwesterly to northwesterly winds will start light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later strengthening to moderate 4 and locally strong 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to moderate.

Temperatures will rise to around 27°C inland, as well as along the southern and eastern coasts. The western and northern coasts will see highs of roughly 25°C, while temperatures will peak at 16°C in the highest mountain peaks.

Clearer conditions tonight

The weather will gradually clear up tonight, though periods of increased low cloud cover will persist. Local light fog is forecast to form during the early morning hours.

Winds will initially blow from the southwest to northwest at a light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, before turning northwesterly to northeasterly inland and southeasterly along the northern coast at a light 3 Beaufort. The sea will become slight.

Temperatures overnight will drop to 15°C inland, hover around 17°C along the coast, and fall to 7°C in the highest mountain ranges.
