Cyprus weather forecast: 37°C inland Thursday with weekend mountain storms possible

Thursday will be mainly clear across Cyprus, though periods of locally increased cloud cover are expected, with temperatures reaching around 37°C inland and strong afternoon coastal winds.

Winds will start variable and light at 3 Beaufort before turning mainly south-westerly to north-westerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort. By the afternoon, coastal winds will strengthen to moderate to strong and locally strong, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort.

The sea will be smooth to slight.

Temperatures will reach around 37°C inland, around 34°C on most coasts, around 28°C on the western and south-western coastline, and around 27°C in the higher mountain areas.

Thursday night will bring mainly clear skies with temporarily increased low cloud, mainly along the coasts. Mist or fog is expected to form locally in eastern areas and inland during the later hours and into the early morning. Winds will gradually become katabatic and locally variable, light at 3 Beaufort.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be mainly clear with temporarily increased cloud in most parts of the island. Around midday and into the afternoon, developing cloud is expected to bring isolated showers, with an isolated thunderstorm also possible, mainly in the mountains.

Temperatures through Sunday are not expected to change significantly, remaining slightly above the seasonal average.
