Cyprus is set for another hot day as temperatures are expected to climb to around 38 °C inland, with further increases likely in the coming days as the heatwave intensifies across the island.
According to the Cyprus Department of Meteorology, a seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region.
After the dissipation of local low cloud, mist and patchy fog, the weather will turn mostly clear across most areas, with periods of increased cloud cover.
However, in the afternoon, cloud development over mountainous areas is expected to produce isolated showers, with a short-lived thunderstorm also possible.
Winds will occasionally strengthen to up to 5 Beaufort.
Temperatures will rise to around 38 °C in inland areas, about 31 °C along the coasts and around 28 °C in higher mountainous regions.
On Sunday, conditions will remain mostly clear with occasional cloud development. Isolated showers are expected again in the mountains during the afternoon hours.
On Monday, the weather will remain mostly clear with periods of local cloud cover.
On Tuesday, conditions will stay mainly clear.
Temperatures are expected to gradually rise further until Tuesday, remaining slightly above seasonal averages.
