The Cyprus Shipping Chamber on Tuesday, 12th March 2024, held a seminar addressed to its member companies, regarding the regulatory framework governing the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), which came into effect on 1st January 2024, and discussed the obligations it imposes on shipping companies.
The seminar commenced with a presentation from the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, acting as the Competent Authority for EU ETS in Cyprus, regarding compliance with relevant Community Regulations, followed by a Q&A session.
Subsequently, there were group meetings among participants and service providers, members of the Chamber, who presented relevant solutions to the challenges arising from the implementation of the EU ETS.
The entire seminar was highly informative and well-attended, bringing together representatives from seven service providers and over a hundred personnel from member companies of the Chamber.
