Police arrested four people during overnight operations across Cyprus, as officers carried out organised patrols at key points in urban areas to prevent serious crime and maintain public order.
The arrests concerned various offences, including handling stolen goods, conspiracy to commit a felony, drunkenness, causing disturbance and resisting lawful arrest.
During the operations, police stopped and checked 582 drivers and 169 passengers.
Officers also carried out 54 checks at premises as part of efforts to tackle delinquency, resulting in 18 complaints.
Traffic checks led to 270 complaints for various road offences, while 18 traffic cases are under investigation.
Police said 120 of the complaints concerned speeding. Eleven vehicles were impounded as part of the checks.
Officers also carried out 225 alcohol tests, which resulted in 21 complaints.
Police said coordinated operations to prevent and combat crime are continuing daily, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action aimed at protecting citizens and maintaining public order.
