Cyprus has reduced gender pay gap in comparison to EU average, ministry says

According to the Ministry of Labour, Cyprus ranks 7th best in the EU regarding the gender pay gap, as stated yesterday on the occasion of the 15th of November, the European Equal Pay Day.

The Ministry also emphasised the importance of respecting the right to equal pay for work of equal value, aiming to bridge the wage gap between men and women.

It noted that the gender pay gap percentage in Cyprus, based on the most recent data (2021), stands at 9.7%, compared to the EU average of 12.7%.

“Significant progress has been made over time (35% reduction in the last decade), however, the goal of fully eliminating the gap remains in focus,” stated the Ministry.
