British father, 34, dies suddenly on Cyprus holiday

A British father holidaying in Cyprus died suddenly on June 5, his family said, launching a fundraising appeal to bring his body home and cover funeral costs, The Sun reported.

Jonas McDowall, 34, from Hemel Hempstead in the UK, leaves his partner and their eight-year-old daughter, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his brother, George McDowall.

“With broken hearts, we are reaching out to ask for help,” George McDowall wrote on the page, describing the sudden loss of his 34-year-old brother in Cyprus on June 5.

The fundraiser has so far raised more than 4,400 pounds towards a target of 5,500 pounds, according to the page.

Funds raised will go towards bringing Jonas home, funeral and memorial costs, travel expenses for relatives, and support for his partner and daughter, the family said.

Relatives described Jonas as a “loving son, brother, partner, father and friend,” adding that his death has left an “unimaginable void” in their lives.

Friends, relatives and well-wishers have continued to pay tribute to Jonas since his death, according to the fundraising page.

His family also described him as a “kind, caring, and hardworking man who would do anything for the people he loved,” and said they want to give him a dignified farewell while supporting the family he leaves behind.
