Arson confirmed after car fire in Aradippou destroys one vehicle and damages two others

Police have confirmed arson after flammable material was found at the scene of a car fire in Aradippou that broke out around 1am, destroying one vehicle and damaging two others.

The fire started in a vehicle parked outside the home of its 65-year-old owner, which was completely destroyed. Two other vehicles belonging to relatives of the owner, a 66-year-old woman and a 36-year-old woman, also sustained damage.

The Fire Service extinguished the blaze before members of the Police and Fire Service examined the scene, which remained cordoned off until investigations were completed.

The 65-year-old owner is to be called in for questioning to establish whether he has any specific suspicions, as the motive remains unknown.

The case is being investigated by Aradippou Police Station and Larnaca CID, whose members are seeking witness statements from local residents and reviewing CCTV footage.
