Female bus driver attacked by passenger in Limassol

A man attacked a female bus driver working for EMEL (Limassol Passenger Transport Company) around midday on Thursday, July 16, on Christaki Kranou Street in Germasogeia, where she was driving her route.

According to initial information, the man, reportedly under the influence of drugs, had been waiting at a bus stop. As soon as the bus stopped and he boarded, he attacked the driver.

At the same time, another EMEL bus was passing in the opposite direction. The driver of the second bus got off along with passengers, and together they managed to bring the attacker under control until police arrived.

Police arrested the man, while the driver went to Germasogeia Police Station along with a passenger who had witnessed the incident, in order to give statements.

Speaking to philenews, EMEL press spokesperson Petros Theocharides condemned the incident, while thanking the passengers for their immediate intervention and their part in restraining him.
