A 44-year-old man has been remanded in custody for five days by the Limassol District Court following a complaint alleging the rape, sexual abuse, and psychological harassment of his 58-year-old mother-in-law.
Limassol CID investigators arrested the suspect after the complainant, described by authorities as a vulnerable individual facing mental health challenges, came forward to report systemic abuse.
According to the complaint, the suspect entered the woman’s home and subjected her to non-consensual sexual acts.
The complainant stated to police that this was not an isolated incident, alleging that the suspect had routinely demanded sexual intercourse from her in recent weeks despite her explicit refusals.
During police interrogation, the 44-year-old suspect denied the charge of rape but reportedly admitted to performing other non-consensual sexual acts on two separate occasions.
Investigators are currently corroborating his statements alongside physical and digital evidence.
Forensic pathologists have examined the 58-year-old woman, and multiple items have been seized from the scene for laboratory testing.
Limassol CID continues to review security and digital material associated with the case as part of the ongoing investigation.
