Police have stood down from high alert and lifted emergency protocols at the Nicosia Mall, minutes after a targeted threat message triggered a brief security scare.
The security alert was lifted after police units deployed to the scene swiftly determined there was no active danger, allowing operations to quickly return to normal. During the brief activation of emergency protocols, shoppers inside the complex were temporarily locked inside retail stores as a safety precaution while officers secured the premises.
Citizens at the scene told en.philenews that police officers subsequently informed them the alert had been cleared and that they could safely resume their shopping. Enquiries into the origin and credibility of the threatening message remain ongoing.
