Cyprus Weather Inland Temperatures to Hit 39C with Clear Skies

Inland temperatures will rise to 39 degrees Celsius today after early low cloud and thin fog clear across most of the island, the Meteorological Service said.

According to the forecast, the weather will become mainly fine throughout the day, though cloudy patches will temporarily develop over the mountains during the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 35 degrees Celsius on the northern coast, around 31 degrees on the southeastern and eastern coasts, and 30 degrees on the remaining coasts and higher mountains.

Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest, starting as light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort before turning strong at 5 Beaufort locally along the southern coast later in the day. The sea will be slightly rough.

Tonight will remain mainly fine, though low cloud will temporarily build along the western coast. Thicker low cloud and mist or fog are expected to form in the eastern half of the island during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Temperatures tonight will drop to 21 degrees Celsius inland, around 23 degrees on the coast, and 19 degrees in the higher mountains. Winds overnight will drop to light at 3 Beaufort, initially reaching up to 4 Beaufort locally, while the sea will remain calm to slightly rough.
