Trachoni Limassol fire under control with firefighters continuing safety operations

The fire that broke out in dry grass and wild vegetation in the Trachoni area of Limassol has been brought under control, with fire services continuing operations to secure the area and prevent any possible flare-ups.

During the incident, firefighters moved to protect nearby homes. An ambulance was called after three people were injured while attempting to safeguard their properties.

According to a Fire Service spokesperson, two residents suffered minor burns to their hands, while a third person experienced respiratory problems after trying to defend their homes using a garden hose.

The firefighting operation involved three staffed Fire Service vehicles and three staffed vehicles from the British Bases.

Two excavators and a Portable Fire Unit from the Kourion municipality also assisted in the effort.

Support was additionally provided by volunteer groups Atlas and Blue Heart, while two aircraft from the Air Firefighting Unit were deployed.

Firefighting teams remain in the area to ensure full containment and to prevent any re-ignition of the blaze.
