Trump reveals limited-edition US passport with his portrait for 250th Independence anniversary

US President Donald Trump has unveiled a limited-edition commemorative US passport featuring his portrait, to be released in a restricted number as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

In a message posted on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “The new US passport that says: Welcome, but be good.”

The passport design shows Trump with a serious expression, leaning on his desk, set against the text of the US Declaration of Independence, with his signature at the bottom. It is understood to be based on a portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.

The second page of the passport includes an image depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, with the caption “United States of America 250.”

The White House shared the image, describing it as a “patriotic passport.”

To date, no sitting US president has been depicted on a passport.

The announcement forms part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at placing Trump’s personal imprint on symbolic American institutions and landmarks, which has drawn criticism from opponents who describe it as a form of personality cult.

Trump’s signature will also appear on commemorative banknotes, a move that marks the first time a sitting US president has been featured in this way.
