A 40-year-old man was arrested in Limassol this morning after a knife attack left a 45-year-old in serious condition in hospital, the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department said.
Police received a report at around 00:30 that a wounded man had been taken to Limassol General Hospital. The 45-year-old had an apparent stab wound to the shoulder and his condition is described as serious.
According to CID, the 40-year-old called the 45-year-old during the night and asked him to come to his home to settle a personal dispute. The 45-year-old arrived with two relatives, at which point the 40-year-old attacked him with a knife and spray, causing serious injury.
The victim underwent surgery and is being treated in the surgical ward. The 40-year-old was arrested in the early hours of the morning. Before his arrest, he had been taken to a private hospital for a head wound, where he received treatment and was discharged.
The 40-year-old faces charges including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and carrying a knife. Limassol CID said the investigation is continuing.
