The body of a man found in a sea area in Kiti on Thursday morning belongs to a 69-year-old Greek Cypriot, police have confirmed.
According to police information, the man regularly swam in the area and was found floating unconscious five metres from the shore by the owner of a property in the area.
The man was found dead in the Softades area, near Aetosanida beach, and was brought ashore.
Members of Kiti police station attended the scene to investigate the circumstances of his death. The possibility of criminal action has been ruled out, and it remains unknown whether his death was caused by drowning or by pathological causes.
The exact cause of death will be established during the mandatory post-mortem examination.
