Paphos bombing: Second suspect arrested over office blast

Paphos police arrested a 36-year-old man on Friday, making him the second suspect detained in connection with an attempted property destruction case involving explosives, police said.

The suspect was arrested at around 7:00 p.m. under a judicial warrant issued after evidence linked him to the case. Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers expect to bring him before a court today to request a remand order.

A 46-year-old man was previously arrested on 1 April under a separate warrant for the same case. He remains in custody as a detainee after his case was registered for trial before the Paphos Permanent Assize Court.

The case stems from an early morning explosion on 30 March at a company’s offices in Paphos. The blast damaged the glass of the main entrance and the building’s walls. Crime scene investigators discovered that an improvised incendiary device containing flammable material and a commercial firecracker had been placed and detonated outside the building entrance.

Paphos CID is continuing its investigation.
