Members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) searched the Larnaca home of a 36-year-old man under a court warrant on Wednesday afternoon, seizing more than three kilograms of cocaine hidden in the property and his vehicle.
The cocaine was found in three separate quantities: two packages containing a white solid substance with a combined gross weight of 2kg 220g; 30 nylon packages containing a white solid substance with a combined gross weight of 977g; and one nylon package containing a white solid substance weighing 31g.
The large quantity had been carefully concealed and was located after methodical efforts by YKAN members, aided by their assessment of the suspect’s behaviour during the search.
Also seized were eight flares, two packets each containing eight fireworks, five packets each containing five fireworks, €4,000 in cash, a precision scale, a hunting rifle, and 24 bird-liming sticks.
Two unregistered motorcycles and a car were also found inside the property and taken away.
The 36-year-old was arrested on the spot and taken to YKAN’s Larnaca office, where he was questioned in writing before being remanded in custody. YKAN is continuing its investigation in cooperation with Kofinου Police Station.
